Tips to get Approved by CPA Networks

Tips to get approved by CPA Networks

Over at the Vita Vee forum (an excellent place to hang out), we were discussing CPA Marketing and I shared some tips of getting accepted by CPA Networks that I learned from Zero Friction Marketing.

Vita Vee who is extremely generous with his knowledge chimed in and shared his tips about getting accepted into a CPA Network. I found his tips to be very valuable so I wrote to him to seek his permission to blog about the topic. As you might have guessed reading this post, he agreed and in this post I am going to share with you the tips to improving your chances of being accepted into a CPA network. See the CPA Marketing discussion on the Vita Vee forum for more details.

1. Have A Professional Company Website

Having a company website is absolutely necessary to get accepted by CPA networks. Zero Friction Marketing made me aware of the importance of having a company website when applying to CPA networks. See my Zero Friction Marketing review.

Ensure that your website has the following:

  • Decent Template: If possible, use WordPress to create your website with a decent template. Some resources for free themes are SkinPress and WordPress Extend. I have created a WordPress launch checklist that can come in handy when creating your WordPress website as it covers everything from conception to launch.
  • Website Content: Make sure that your website has content along with an “About Us” page. The content does not need to be original.
  • Opt In Box: Have an opt-in box preferably on the sidebar of your website. This shows that you are building a list and that you can promote their offers via your newsletter. You can use paid services like AWeber, 1ShoppingCart or Get Response or you can opt for simple free service like MailChimp (with a limit of 500 subscribers) and FeedBurner (an integrated RSS and email subscription service from Google which this blog uses) to build your mailing list.
  • Privacy Policy & Terms of Service Page: Ensure that your website has a privacy policy page. This can be created using services like Privacy Policy Generator (simple) or Free Privacy Policy Generator (complex).
  • Contact Page: Create a contact page in your website. This is fairly easy in WordPress using plugins like cforms II or Contact Form 7 (my favorite).

2. Contact Details

While applying to a CPA network always use an email address on one of your domain names. Preferably, an email address from your company website domain name. Avoid using free email from services like HotMail, Gmail or Yahoo Mail.

Provide a working phone number because if the CPA network affiliate managers calls and can’t reach you then you’ll not be accepted by them.

3. Be Prepared To Receive A Call

If they find your website to be decent then you have overcome your first hurdle. This will normally lead to a phone call from the affiliate manager of the CPA network. Vita Vee recommends not to be intimidated but to control the conversation by asking questions like:

  • What are the best performing offers of their network and if they can send you this list once a week.
  • Do they have sub-ids technology to track performance on a keyword level
  • Do they prefer that you use their own banners or if you can create your own banners?
  • If they say that they prefer for you to use their banners then tell them that by creating your own you could get better CTR to their offers because you are in control and can conduct split tests to find the best performing banner.

Ask as many relevant questions as you can, in this way you will appear to know your stuff and the chances of you getting approved go up higher. As always, if you have additional tips or any questions please feel free to leave a comment.
