3 Techniques To Market Your Website
1. The Launch
In the context of N1Way, the term “launch” is quite a misnomer and is just used to illustrate a point because technically there isn’t a launch within the N1Way process. The process is mainly about filling up a demand with your sites in the organic listing for “product type” keyword combinations around which your website has been built.
The goal of the N1Way process is to build a useful website that will eventually be recognized by the search engines as a valuable player in the niche. The thoroughness of development process almost ensures that eventually over time the search engines will recognize your website as an authority in your niche. However, if within a year you do not get “top page” results for your “primary” keyword combinations then you’re either targeting niches that are too competitive or you are doing something else wrong. That’s the N1Way process in a nutshell. Be sure to check my review of N1Way.
As you can see, the N1Way process takes time, patience and hard work. since there is no great rush, the launch process simply means submitting your website i.e. your sitemap.xml file (Module 4 has details on how to create this file) to the 3 major search engines – Google, Yahoo and Bing/MSN to initiate the site “spidering” and “indexing” process.
The “launch” of your website is an important milestone as it practically divides time. At present, there are existing websites (historical) that are relevant to your niche. And in the future, there will be websites that is going to be relevant to your niche but these do not exist at this moment. This concept is key to the upcoming marketing techniques of forward and backward referencing.
2. Forward Referencing
Monitoring search engines and combing your niche for new sites can be cumbersome, so the forward referencing technique uses Google Alerts in the following manner.
- Set up Google Alerts immediately after launching your website.
- Enter the main “keyword combinations” of your niche into Google Alerts. The recommended channel to receive alerts is via email and set it to receive emails once per week ideally.
- Click on links sent to you by Google. Leave a thoughtful comment if possible or evaluate whether it is possible to get a link back to your website. When requesting for a link explain clearly what part of your site is relevant to what part of their website.
- Let’s say the links that Google sends you turns out to be a valuable site then include a link from a relevant page to them. Linking to an important site is viewed positively by search engines as well as increases your chances of getting a link back from them. Ask politely.
Start the Google Alerts process with the major keywords. Do not waste time going after every variation of a keyword. Ignore the long tail, at least, for the first 6 months.
3. Backwards Referencing
The backwards referencing marketing technique is to get sites that are already in existence to link back to your website. This process is simple and entails the following steps:
- Go to Google and enter the “primary” keyword combination.
- Open the first 30 or so results and evaluate the possibility of commenting, getting a link back or linking to them in a manner similar to what was described in the forward referencing technique.
Depending on the size of your site, this process takes anywhere between a day to a week. Then you STOP.
Those are the 3 simple techniques used to market a website within the N1Way process. It is simple but systematic just as the rest of the processes of N1Way.

Well I learned a thing or two here, thanks
Hi, interesting technique. I find it better to target my competitors links. What links do they have, if they are from forums or blogs target them first. Then build an article campaign once you have exhausted this method.
