Finding A Profitable Niche That Fits Your Interests

by Kuzzuk Subba on May 25, 2010

Profitable Niches In Article MarketingIn my introduction to article marketing post, I highlighted that finding a profitable niche is the first and extremely important step of article marketing. Most people say that finding a profitable niche is difficult but that’s only half the truth. Here are some reasons why people fail in finding a profitable niche:

  1. Complexity: We humans have this belief that finding anything worthwhile has got to be hard so we self-sabotage by making the process of finding a profitable niche complex. Nothing could be further from the truth. Instead of following some gurus complex formula to find a profitable niche, use your instinct and a couple of sources to confirm your hunch.
  2. Undiscovered Niche: People spend all their time, energy and money looking for undiscovered niches when the fact is that there are very few profitable undiscovered niches around. Instead focus on a sub-niche of a niche that is already making money and make your marketing unique.
  3. Lack of Market Knowledge: People lack knowledge on basic profitable niches or are dissuaded by gurus who tell them not to enter profitable niches because it is too competitive. This is nonsense. The gurus just don’t want you to take a slice of their market share. Competition can be dealt with if you properly define your niche or sub-niche and out market the rest. Just focus on health/fitness, wealth/money and happiness niches or sub-niches and it is guaranteed to be profitable.

Gut Instinct and Two Sources To Find Profitable Niches

Do not be inundated by information overload or listen to different gurus’ conflicting methods, instead, look within yourself. Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What is the pain or problem I am facing right now?
  2. What are my hobbies/interests?
  3. What solutions are available to my pain or problem?

This will get you give you enough information to create a list of niche ideas. My recommendation is to at least have 10 ideas. Now it is time to test whether the niche will be profitable and just do the following.

  1. Go to the Dummies Store and check whether a related book exists. If yes, then chances are that this niche will be profitable because the folks at Dummies.com have probably done their numbers and figured out that there is a demand.
  2. Go to Magazines.com and check whether a related magazine exists. If a magazine exists then this niche in most likelihood will be profitable.

Choose a couple of niches to focus on and it is best if these niches fall within the health/fitness, wealth/money and happiness market because these markets are profitable and evergreen. The next article will focus on keyword research to ascertain the demand for the chosen niches.
